REQUIREMENTS : A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification. One (1) year relevant working

PPPFA, Treasury Regulations, Practice notes and Government SCM framework /
policies and procedures. Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Computer literacy skills (Ms Word, excel). Good interpersonal relationship skills

DUTIES : Render effective procurement of goods and services. Creation of purchase
requisitions, purchase orders, and receiving quotations. Internal and external coordination of procurement. Shortlist service providers on National Treasury Central
Supplier Database (CSD). Provide SCM support services within the component.
Identify risks associated to SCM. Compile various SCM reports and maintain
registers. Proper filing of documents. The candidate should also perform the
following: compilation of demand plan, implementation of SCM framework,
commodity analysis to ensure that required resources fulfil the identified needs.

The Customer SC Consultant is responsible for Makro’s short term (0-8 week)) replenishment cycle. The main focus is on improving strike rate and on-shelf availability via a detailed knowledge of the customer’s systems at store level as well as input into customer forecast. The CSCC is responsible to drive execution of logistics initiatives and support innovation transition management at customer.


  • Building close relationships with customer for management of service, cost and cash.
  • Place orders on behalf of all stores according to Makro’s F&R system’s proposal & inventory targets
  • Manually manipulate orders for promotional buy in
  • Lead Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment at the customer DC by:
  • Supporting NAMs in short term planning & promotions meetings with buyers
  • Flagging supply and pricing risks to NAM and replenishers for all key promotions
  • Running daily and weekly reports to identify issues (stock outs, over stocks etc), investigating stock issues and recommending actions to customer supply chain.
  • Day to day negotiation with customer replenishers to ensure prioritisation of Unilever orders and deliveries
  • Assist in resolving ad-hoc logistic challenges that between Unilever Logistics and DC
  • Handle ad hoc changes to customer’s ordering pattern, such as new depot or store openings
  • Monitor customer stock on hand to identify sales risks and opportunities and communicate these to NAMs
  • Manage innovation rundown at customer DC through early identification of customer SOH risks to ensure minimal returns
  • Monitor first six weeks’ sales for innovation SKUs, reporting on any stock issues as well as over or under forecasting issues
  • Drive master-data health at customer
  • Deliver optimum On Shelf Availability through driving sales to stores and conducting periodic visits to stores
  • Working with the Customer Service Centre, minimise the impact of OOS on customer service.
  • Report and analyse Key Performance Indicators, implementing continuous improvement activities around these.
  • Support rest of customer service team to maintain operational cover in times of absence or other priorities


  • Tertiary qualification
  • 2 – 3 years’ relevant experience in a Supply Chain role


  • The CSCC’s role requires an in-depth knowledge of the supply chain, from factory to customer, with specific knowledge in the logistics required from Unilever DCs to the customer’s delivery point.  The CSCC must be able to optimize this supply chain in order to achieve efficiency & improvements.
  • The CSCC is ideally based at the customer & so is the primary point of contact for customer on any Unilever related service, logistics and trade returns issues. He / she therefore has to work mostly autonomously, collaborating with the customer, assisting with issue resolution & joint business planning.


  • Relevant Degree/diploma
  • Experience within Order Management/Logistics/Planning
  • At least 2 years’ experience within a Customer service/Strategic/Planning role
  • Experience in Excel and PowerPoint presentation skill
