REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Plumbing.

  • Experience: Appropriate experience in LOGIS and the Integrated Procurement Solution IPS/Tradeworld.
  • Appropriate experience in Supply Chain Management.

SEAMSTRESS

SALARY : R107 886 per annum

CENTRE : Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum requirement: Basic reading, writing and numerical skills (equivalent of grade 10).
  • Certificate and/ or relevant training, e.g. pattern making, sewing, dress making, etc.
  • Experience: Appropriate experience in pattern making, garment construction and alterations using both industrial and domestic sewing and overlocking machines.
  • Extensive experience in designing, sewing of various specialised garments, assistive devices, wheelchair accessories and other required items.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work with patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Technician.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Advance sewing skills.
  • Ability to take measurements and do calculations to construct garment patterns.
  • Knowledge of and operating different sewing machines (sewing and over-locker machines), both industrial and basic; manage trouble-shooting and do basic maintenance of machines.
  • Pattern and garment making; ability to fabricate or construct assistive devices with guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintain good quality control and standards of garments or items produced.
  • Ability to function within a team, maintain good interpersonal skills and work under pressure.
  • Creativity and ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

GENERAL WORKER (ENVIRONMENTAL AND MEDICAL WASTE)

SALARY : R83 766 per annum

CENTRE : Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum requirement: Basic numeracy and literacy. I
  • nherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to handle heavy 62 objects/boxes.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Ability to work under pressure and irregular hours as required.

Youth Employment Service [YES] Launched: 500 000 Jobs to be Created Every Year for The Youth

The Youth Employment Service (YES) plans to touch the lives of one million young South Africans over three years by providing them with paid one-year internships and learnerships in established firms.

Creating 500,000 jobs a year for young people is a possibility‚ President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Tuesday during the launch of the Youth Employment Service (Yes).

The initiative‚ according to Ramaphosa‚ was conceived 18 months ago and while it is set to create 330‚000 jobs for young people‚ he is hopeful the number will increase.

“It is possible to ramp it up to 500‚000‚” Ramaphosa said.

He said the initiative was responding to unemployment, SA’s “greatest and [most] pressing” socioeconomic challenge.

“We know that the depth of youth unemployment is huge and therefore we have to respond. Although the obstacles [young people face] are daunting‚ we have resources to overcome the obstacles.”

Ramaphosa said the government was working towards improving the quality of learning to ensure that young people complete matric.

“What is concerning is that one million young people enter the schooling system and only half-a-million make it to matric.”

He said the government in partnership with business would create more programmes aimed at alleviating youth unemployment.

“We need effective and sustainable programmes to prepare young people for first-time employment. This demonstrates that we are a country on the move. We will be coming up with further initiatives to address youth unemployment‚” Ramaphosa said.

The Yes initiative aims to see more than one-million young people being offered paid work experience over the next three years‚ by placing the needs of young people at the centre of inclusive economic growth.

The initiative takes the form of a partnership — led by Ramaphosa — between the government‚ business‚ labour and civil society.

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) runs a highly successful Graduate Trainee Program. Graduates from various fields of study, e.g. Engineering, Finance, Marketing, etc. are provided with an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience in preparation of securing a permanent position.

The Graduate Trainee Program is run over a period of 12 to 24 months and covers extensive training and development opportunities. Although there are no guarantees of permanent employment at FMCSA after expiry of the contract, the graduates may apply for any vacancies as and when they occur.   Every year students from various universities are invited to apply for Graduate Trainee programs.  The applicants are screened and the best students are selected to join the  program.   Students who have completed their Degrees or National Diplomas may now apply to join the FMCSA Graduate Trainee Program
