Flexibility and accessibility
Students can attend a course at anytime from anywhere. This means that parents can attend to their children and then sit down, working students can attend classes no matter what their work schedule might be, people who are constantly traveling for business or pleasure can attend classes from anywhere in the world. All that is often required is a laptop or pc and an internet connection.
Online learning enables student-centered teaching approaches
Every student has their own way of learning. What works best for some might not work for others. Some students are visual learners, while others learn better by doing course work.
Materials are easily accessible
Study materials are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students have the ability to read and reread literature, discussions, explanations and comments. Often in a classroom or lecture room their are many distractions that prevent you from fully focussing on what is being presented.
Avoid tiredness and boredom
Many students often suffer from tiredness or boredom in a classroom. Online learning allows students to study when they feel most energised.
Exposure to knowledge
Often with online learning, institutions try and make things interesting by having different people from different cultures from all across the world present. This way students are exposed to a diverse varierty of people and knowlegde that can’t be learned in books.
Participating online is much less intimidating than in the classroom. The online environment makes instructors more approachable.
