SASSA offers an online application service for those wanting to benefit from one of SASSA’s many grants.
SASSA provides many grants to vulnerable South Africans through grants including the following:
- Old Persons Grant
- Disability Grant
- Care Dependency Grant
- Social Relief of Distress Grant
- War Veterans Grant
- Foster Child Grant
- Child Support Grant
Social grants are in place to help improve standards of living in society.
Should you want to apply for one of these grants, you will first need to create an account. You can do this here.
When you’re done, you then need to visit this page and click on ‘Apply for a grant’. You will then need to follow the prompts to complete your application.
This online portal also provides applicants with the option of tracking their application. This can be done by visiting this page and clicking on ‘Track My Application’. You then need to follow the prompts and you will then be given information on which stage your application is at.
SASSA was created in 2005 to distribute social grants on behalf of the Department of Social Development. This was done to improve the standards of living in the country and are given to people who are vulnerable to poverty and/or in need of support from the government, such as the elderly, people living with disabilities and those with young children.
