The Bill Venter Academy Bursary Scheme is therefore highly competitive in nature. It is a talent-based scheme aimed at attracting and retaining exceptional individuals. Preference is given to candidates with a remarkable academic record and those individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who meet our minimum requirements.
The number of bursaries awarded per annum depends on the operational needs of the business. Altron is a technology company and, as a result, the majority of bursaries awarded are in electronic engineering and computer science. Applications for Bill Venter Academy Bursaries are invited annually. The Bill Venter Academy offers a number of bursaries to persons who wish to engage in tertiary study with a view to obtain undergraduate degrees through to postgraduate research. Currently, the Bill Venter Academy is not offering bursaries for technikon studies.
Bursaries are awarded in the following fields of study:
a. Electronic Engineering (or a combination of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, but not Electrical Engineering only)
b. Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics)
c. Industrial Engineering
d. Computer Engineering
e. Computer Science
