Programme outline


Applications are invited for the Harvard South Africa Fellowship Program 2020-2021.

Harvard South Africa Fellowship Program 2020-2021 (HSAFP) was established for mid-career professionals who were disadvantaged by past laws and resource allocations in South Africa. The HSAFP was initiated to provide educational enrichment for mid-career individuals in various occupations who have shown considerable skills and leadership in their chosen fields.

What the scholarship offers

– Tuition for the full period of enrolment at Harvard

– Round-trip airfare between the Fellow’s home and Boston

– Monthly stipend with the exception of those enrolled in Executive Education Programmes, to cover accommodation, living and medical expenses as well as food, winter clothing, taxes and books

Who can apply?Fellows must be South African citizensUsually between 30 and 45 years of ageMust not have just completed or not completed a Bachelor’s degree, unless this degree has been pursued concurrently with or subsequent to experience in the workplaceApplicants should determine well in advance whether if awarded a fellowship, they can be granted leave by their employers for Harvard’s academic year

US opens scholarships to South African students for 2019

This world-renowned program offers scholarships to South Africans interested in pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree at any accredited tertiary institution in the United States.

The scholarships cover up to the full cost of tuition and living expenses in the U.S.

Applications close on April 19, 2019, but applicants are encouraged to start the application process as soon as possible.

Highly-motivated South Africans wishing to pursue a Master’s degree must have completed a four-year B-Tech degree or a three-year Bachelor’s degree with an Honors degree.

Prospective Doctoral students must have successfully obtained a Master’s degree.

In 2018, 29 South African students and scholars received fully-funded Fulbright scholarships to complete postgraduate studies at American academic institutions and to conduct research in the United States.

These talented South Africans are currently pursuing studies in fields ranging from molecular biology, viticulture, economics, and audiology, to mechanical engineering, occupational therapy and philosophy at institutions including Ohio State University, University of Missouri, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of California, and the University of Pennsylvania.

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. Government’s flagship international educational exchange.

It was established in 1946 to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.

It currently operates in South Africa and more than 150 countries worldwide.

Scholarship to Study Medicine in Cuba: Department of Health Mpumalanga

The Mpumalanga Department of Health hereby invites all prospective students preferably from disadvantaged backgrounds who would like to study Medicine in Cuba to apply for bursaries for 2017. The target number to be selected for 2017 is very limited.

Applicants who can apply should meet the following requirements:

  • Submit letter of application letter accompanied by a certified copy of Grade 12 Certificate / statement of results qualifying them to study at a tertiary institution. Must have passed all subjects with at least a level 4. Candidates with a 3 or below in any of the subjects must not apply.
  • The following subjects are compulsory: Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Sciences (Biology) and English.
  • Recently certified copy of Identity document
  • Recently certified copy of Birth certificate
  • Proof of residence from local Chief or municipality
  • Proof of income of both parents or affidavit if parents are not working
  • Be not older than 25 years

In addition all applicants who will be shortlisted will be required to submit:

  • Ten (10) passport sized photos
  • Valid passport / proof of application for passport
  • Should not have criminal records – obtain police clearance

And undergo Medical examination with regard to:

  • HIV and AIDS
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Pregnancy (females)
