  • Complete a General and Plant Specific induction
  • Complete legal training as per mill and section requirement
  • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Grade 12 (Math’s and Physical Science)/ N3 Pulp and Paper
  • Diploma in Pulp and Paper or Diploma in Chemical Engineering will be advantageous

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
In conjunction with the CSLs, this role assists in the responsibility of organising, implementing and maintaining a local PV system – especially with regards to patient support programs.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Take part in Organising a PV Quality System:
Comply with local PV regulations and the global Sanofi group procedures. Assist with the implementation and documentation thereof. Compliance with global procedures will also ensure that the Sanofi entities are in compliance with global PV regulatory o b l igations and commitments.
Responsible for education and training on safety topics within the local organisation are performed in c l u ding documentation of attendees and topics cov e re d . This is applicable to the t r aining of affiliate office based staff as well as other members of staff such as sales representatives , local contractors and local manufacturing sites (ie Annual PV Awareness campaign and sales representatives trai n i ng on pharmacovigilance).
Assist in ensuring timely completion of audit and inspection observations and ensure permanent inspection readiness for PV activities.
Assist with compliance tracking of ICSRs and PSRs.
Alert the CSL or MCSL of any deviation from a global or local process.
Support the PV Operating System:
Ensure that communications from local internal groups (including, but not limited t o , s a l es representatives , medical information, or any other group that has first contact with a reporter) and from external parties about safety information are timeously attended to:
Continuously monitor and review incoming communication (email, tel, fax etc) t o identify ICS R s and other safety information needing repor t i ng to GP E / Global PV entities , HAs, Partners; complete the required reporting forms and generate the required submissions forms and ensure reporting and submissions are done within the stipulated timelines
Local periodic reports are handled appropriately , including PSRs and periodic reviews to comply with GPE/Global PV entities Quality Documents (QDs/SOPs) and local regulatory PV requirements:
Contribute together with GPE/Global PV entities and RA departments to the planning for periodic safety reports
Own the preparation of the South Africa specific summary reports for the HA
PSP case management; tracking and submission
Partner Management:

Ensure reporting is in line with timelines stipulated in SDEAs
Ensure queries from partners are addressed timeously

Major Challenges/Problems:

In this function , a n amount of complex tasks has to be managed with very tight deadline s . Regulator y , as well as medical aspects, in combination with internal and external communication need to be handled. Multitasking is necessary every da y . Effective problem solving strategies needs to be identifie d , implemented and reviewed on a continuous basis w i th the CSLs.

Key Internal and External Relationships:

GPV – communication, technical questions
Medical Advisors and MSLs – consult as relevant to PV responsibilities ( e . g . : medical evaluation of PV cases, identification of safety signal s , safety aspects of local clinical studies/programs ( e . g Patient Support Programs ) .
Clinical safety officer and delegates – communicate PV responsibilities and ensure clinical study SAE reporting
Reg u l atory department – communicate the r e l evant PV respon s i bilities ( e . g. product labeling informa t i o n , safety que r i es from relevant HA, PSUR and RMP submission)
Training manager s / HR – matters regarding PV training of all staff
HA – review relevant PV responsibilities and comply

Other assistants – stay abreast with administrative, travel and finance requirements

CSIR Internship Programme Pretoria

Internship

The CSIR has three Internship opportunities in the National Centre for Nano Structured Material impact area, within the Chemicals Cluster. The purpose of the Internship is to equip newly graduates with practical work experience and provide them with exposure to different research projects. These positions are based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

Under supervision, the Intern will be required to:

  • Perform nano additives: chemical processing involving manufacturing of nano-structures and scaling-up for various applications;
  • Conduct literature searches for research projects;
  • Conduct experimental work in the laboratory for research projects;
  • Assist with the operation of equipment in the chemical plant in a very safe and environmentally friendly manner (training will be provided);
  • Assist with characterisation of products/materials (e.g. SEM, XRD, TGA, etc.;
  • Compile reports and other project related documents;
  • Assist with thorough housekeeping of labs and scaling-up plants;
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs);

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A National diploma in chemical engineering.
  • A Bachelor’s and Honour’s degree will be advantageous;
  • Research and report-writing skills;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Package;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to multi-task, and to perform consistently under pressure;
